CM Punjab Directs to Ensure Doctor Presence at BHUs and RHCs

Lahore: In a bid to address the long-standing issue of doctor absenteeism at Basic Health Units (BHUs) and Rural Health Centers (RHCs), Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has introduced an innovative program to ensure doctors' presence in these facilities. The Chief Minister’s Programme for Doctors at BHUs and RHCs aims to fill hard-to-reach positions by engaging doctors on market-competitive rates. Through a Pay-for-Performance (P4P) model, the program will use electronic medical records and biometric attendance to track doctor presence and performance. Payments will be made based on pre-determined per diem or per procedure rates, ensuring accountability and quality care for patients. This initiative is part of the Chief Minister’s vision to strengthen healthcare services in rural and underserved areas of Punjab, ensuring better healthcare access and delivery for all citizens.

Punjab Chief Minister Launches ‘Clinics on Wheels’ Project for Urban Slums

Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has officially launched the ‘Clinics on Wheels’ project in Lahore today, a transformative initiative aimed at improving healthcare access for millions of residents across the province. The project will deploy 200 mobile clinics to reach an estimated four million people, bringing essential healthcare services directly to their doorsteps. These mobile clinics will focus on densely populated urban areas, where access to healthcare can often be a challenge for many people, particularly those who face difficulties in reaching hospitals. Speaking at the inauguration, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif emphasized the provincial government’s commitment to making healthcare more accessible. “We are bringing health services right to the people, especially in areas where hospital access is limited,” she said. “This initiative reflects our ongoing efforts to improve public health and ensure that every citizen has access to the care they need, regardless of where they live.” The ‘Clinics on Wheels’ project is part of the Punjab government’s broader efforts to improve healthcare infrastructure and ensure that no one is left behind, particularly in urban centers with high populations.

Punjab Government Launches 'Field Hospital' Initiative to Enhance Rural Healthcare

Lahore: The Punjab government has launched the ‘Field Hospital’ initiative, a groundbreaking step toward improving healthcare accessibility in the province’s rural areas. This initiative involves the deployment of 32 field hospitals, including 21 mobile healthcare units and 11 mobile diagnostic units, designed to address the healthcare needs of under-served communities across all 36 districts of Punjab. During the programme's launch, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz stressed the importance of reducing health inequalities in rural regions. "This programme is a focused effort to improve healthcare outcomes in areas that have long lacked adequate medical resources," she stated. The field hospitals, repurposed from containers once used for other purposes, will now bring essential healthcare services directly to rural populations. The chief minister highlighted the swift execution of the project, which was completed within six weeks, and introduced its Pay-for-Performance Model, which ties financial rewards for healthcare providers to the quality of care and patient outcomes. She also noted that this initiative works in tandem with the ‘Clinic on Wheels’ programme, further enhancing Punjab’s healthcare infrastructure. Each of the 32 field hospitals will be fully equipped with critical healthcare facilities, including an ultrasound room, pharmacy, and laboratory. These hospitals are expected to serve around 1.5 million patients annually, significantly improving healthcare access and outcomes for marginalized communities across the province.
