Minister for P&SHD Khawaja Imran Nazir Attends National Workshop as Chief Guest to Finalize Five-Year Immunization Strategy 2025-2030



Lahore, January 9 – Provincial Minister for Health Khawaja Imran Nazir participated as the Chief Guest in the National/Provincial Immunization Strategy Workshop, where discussions were held on the five-year Expanded Immunization Program Strategy for 2025-2030. The workshop was organized with the support of the World Health Organization (WHO) and attended by representatives from the federal government, WHO, UNICEF, and healthcare experts.

Khawaja Imran Nazir highlighted the importance of routine immunization in protecting children from life-threatening diseases such as polio and measles. He expressed his gratitude to WHO for its cooperation and called for a shift from the short-term policies of the past towards sustainable, long-term healthcare strategies.

He also stressed the need for coordinated efforts to address gaps in preventive healthcare and urged citizens to play their role in disease prevention. Public participation, he said, is essential for the success of immunization campaigns. Khawaja Imran Nazir reiterated his commitment to providing full support to vaccinators and achieving 100% immunization coverage across Punjab.

Punjab currently provides free vaccines against 12 diseases for children under the age of two. Khawaja Imran Nazir highlighted recent successes, including delivering healthcare services to over 7 million people through mobile clinics and field hospitals. He also shared plans to outsource 150 Maryam Nawaz Health Clinics to improve the quality of local healthcare services.

The workshop also featured contributions from WHO and EPI experts, who assured continued support for Punjab’s public health programs. The event marked an important step in strengthening immunization efforts and improving healthcare delivery in the province.
