Provincial Health Minister Khawaja Imran Nazir Inaugurates Anti-Polio Campaign at THQ Hospital Raiwind
Lahore, April 21, 2025 — Provincial Minister for Health and Population Department Khawaja Imran Nazir formally inaugurated the latest phase of the anti-polio campaign at THQ Hospital Raiwind by administering polio drops to children.
He was accompanied by Special Assistant to the Chief Minister on Polio, Uzma Kardar, Secretary Health and Population Department Nadia Saquib, and representatives from UNICEF and the World Health Organization (WHO).
During the visit, Khawaja Imran Nazir met with polio workers and underscored the provincial government’s commitment to achieving 100% vaccination coverage, in line with the directives of the Chief Minister Punjab. He strongly appealed to parents to ensure every child under the age of five is vaccinated.
“Polio drops protect children from lifelong disability. We must win this fight against polio,” said Khawaja Imran Nazir.
“God willing, Pakistan will be a polio-free country by next year.”
He emphasized that comprehensive protection and support are being provided to frontline polio teams, recognizing their service and resilience.
“Polio workers and vaccinators are our frontline soldiers. We will not compromise on their safety, dignity, or recognition,” said Khawaja Imran Nazir.
The campaign is being powered by mobile and transit vaccination teams, enabling outreach in underserved and high-risk areas, as noted by Secretary Nadia Saquib.
Additionally, religious scholars from all schools of thought and civil society organizations are actively supporting the campaign to foster public trust and participation.
Khawaja Imran Nazir further highlighted the department’s focus on digitalized data collection, geospatial mapping, and extensive training of field teams to ensure effectiveness and accountability across the campaign.
