Khawaja Imran Nazeer, Minister for Health & Population Punjab, Issues Emergency Instructions for Flood/Monsoon Alert 2025

Subject: INSTRUCTIONS FOR FLOOD/MONSOON ALERT, 2025

Due to the heavy monsoon rainfall, alerts from PDMA, and the floods caused by the release of water from India, Punjab faces an imminent risk of flooding in various districts. In order to safeguard public health and ensure timely medical response, the following instructions are hereby issued for immediate compliance by all District Health Authorities:


Instructions

  1. Establish and activate a Flood Control Room at the district level to function round-the-clock, with regular monitoring and reporting to the Health Department.
  2. Make arrangements for flood relief camps in flood-prone and affected areas to provide medical cover to displaced populations.
  3. Deploy adequate mobile medical teams as per the district contingency plan.
  4. Ensure timely deployment of “Clinic on Wheels” at suitable and cut-off sites.
  5. Guarantee round-the-clock presence of medical and paramedical staff at all health facilities in and around flood-affected areas.
  6. Maintain sufficient stock of essential medicines, Anti-Snake Venoms, IV fluids, surgical and disposable supplies at all levels.
  7. Establish close monitoring mechanisms in affected areas and ensure strict vigilance to control epidemic/outbreak-prone diseases.
  8. Maintain strong coordination with PDMA, district administration, and Rescue 1122 for immediate joint action.
  9. Submit daily situation and preparedness reports to the Health Department without delay.

All CEOs are directed to personally supervise these measures and ensure their strict implementation. These instructions must be implemented in letter and spirit with immediate effect.
