Dengue Situation Reviewed in Cabinet Committee Meeting



A meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Communicable Diseases including Dengue and Disaster Management was held at the Department of Health and Population under the chairmanship of Provincial Health Ministers Khawaja Imran Nazir and Khawaja Salman Rafique.

All Commissioners, Deputy Commissioners, CEOs Health and medical experts participated in the meeting through video link. The committee reviewed the latest dengue situation across the province and evaluated measures being taken to control the disease. Implementation of decisions taken in the previous meeting was also discussed.

Provincial Minister for Health and Population Khawaja Imran Nazir directed the concerned officers to become active immediately and ensure effective coordination. He instructed CEOs Health to remain in constant contact with district administrations to strengthen anti-dengue efforts.

Officials informed the meeting that emergency measures are being continued to prevent the breeding of dengue mosquitoes in view of the current situation. Khawaja Imran Nazir said the dengue situation across the province is being closely monitored on the directions of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif.

Provincial Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique said that dengue cannot be controlled without the full cooperation of all relevant departments. Cooperative housing societies have also been directed to monitor dengue conditions in their areas.

Khawaja Imran Nazir said dengue is a social issue and every citizen must play a role in its elimination. Khawaja Salman Rafique directed that special surveillance be carried out in junkyards and graveyards within district limits.

The meeting reviewed surveillance of anti-dengue activities in high-risk districts. Khawaja Salman Rafique said additional efforts are required in high-risk areas during the current dengue season.

Khawaja Imran Nazir instructed that water should not be allowed to accumulate at construction sites and commissioners and deputy commissioners should personally monitor anti-dengue operations. Secretaries of allied departments were also directed to ensure implementation of decisions taken in the meeting.

Both provincial health ministers warned that no negligence will be tolerated during the dengue season. Khawaja Imran Nazir directed that the data of confirmed dengue patients should be updated immediately to ensure timely response.

The ministers emphasized that indoor and outdoor dengue surveillance should be carried out with dedication. Khawaja Imran Nazir said dengue can be controlled through effective HR management and a volunteer model, while stressing the need for third-party validation to ensure accountability.
