A key meeting on the Mitigation Plan to address the growing prevalence of Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) was chaired via video link by Provincial Minister for Health & Population, Khawaja Imran Nazeer.
Secretary Health & Population, Nadia Saquib, along with senior officials, also attended the meeting.
The meeting focused on finalizing a comprehensive strategy to combat AMR, including strengthening surveillance systems, closely monitoring the prescription and consumption of critical antibiotics, and ensuring effective regulation of the pharmaceutical sector through enhanced track-and-trace mechanisms.
Minister Health & Population Khawaja Imran Nazeer directed that antibiotic usage trends be continuously monitored and emphasized the adoption of data-driven approaches to minimize misuse and over-prescription.
The importance of Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) measures was also underscored to prevent the spread of resistant infections within healthcare facilities.
Reaffirming the government’s commitment to public health protection, Minister Health & Population Khawaja Imran Nazeer directed all concerned departments to ensure swift and effective implementation of the proposed mitigation plan.
