Govt. of Punjab Launches Health Screening Program for Special Students
Lahore: On the special directives of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the Prevention and Control of Non-Communicable Diseases Program, under the Department of Primary and Secondary Healthcare Punjab, in collaboration with the Special Education Department, has officially launched a health screening program for special students.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by the Chief Minister’s Special Assistant on Special Education, Sania Ashiq, Punjab Health Minister Khawaja Imran Nazir, and the Secretary of Primary and Secondary Healthcare, Nadia Saqib.
During the event, Health Minister Khawaja Imran Nazir emphasized the significance of the initiative. He stated that following the directives of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the Punjab Health Department, in partnership with the Special Education Department, has commenced this program to ensure the well-being and health monitoring of children with special needs.
Minister Nazir affirmed that every special child deserves the right to a healthy and improved quality of life. To achieve this goal, a collaborative team will be formed to undertake effective measures for the welfare of special children. The program will encompass health screenings for all special children across Punjab, carried out with the joint efforts of the Health Department and the Special Education Department.
The screenings will involve a range of medical experts, including dental surgeons, ophthalmologists, psychologists, audiologists, and other relevant specialists. Through this process, potential health issues affecting the children will be identified, enabling a comprehensive understanding of their medical needs.
Additionally, children will be provided with electronic wheelchairs, eyeglasses, and other essential items to further enhance their quality of life. This initiative aims to ensure complete healthcare for special children and facilitate a better standard of living.
The program reflects the government’s strong commitment to the welfare of special children. It is expected to continue successfully throughout Punjab, serving as a testament to the government’s dedication to improving the lives of these children.
