Punjab Health Minister Khawaja Imran Nazir Reaffirms Commitment to Malaria Elimination on World Malaria Day
Lahore, April 25, 2025 — On the occasion of World Malaria Day, Provincial Minister for Health and Population Khawaja Imran Nazir reaffirmed the Government of Punjab’s commitment to eliminating malaria, under the visionary leadership of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif.
“Under the dynamic leadership of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the Punjab government is prioritizing the fight against vector-borne diseases with a renewed sense of urgency and purpose,” said Khawaja Imran Nazir.
“World Malaria Day reminds us that with coordinated action, prevention, and community mobilization, we can defeat malaria and protect our people—especially the most vulnerable.”
The Health and Population Department is implementing targeted interventions across malaria-prone districts, including vector control and rapid diagnostic services.
Khawaja Imran Nazir also highlighted Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s directives for inter-departmental collaboration, improved surveillance systems, and digitalised tracking mechanisms to ensure maximum outreach and impact.
“Our mission for a malaria-free Punjab is fully aligned with the Chief Minister’s broader vision of a healthier, safer, and more resilient province,” he added.
“With the support of frontline health workers and active community participation, we are determined to achieve lasting progress.”
