Minister Khawaja Imran Nazeer Stresses Exclusive Breastfeeding for Child Health and Stronger Generations
A ceremony marking World Breastfeeding Awareness Month was organized by UNICEF at a private hotel in Lahore.
Punjab Minister for Health and Population, Khawaja Imran Nazeer, attended as the chief guest.
The event was joined by representatives of the World Health Organization, health experts, social activists, and a large number of students.
“Breast milk is every child’s fundamental right,” said Khawaja Imran Nazeer.
He emphasized that mother’s milk ensures balanced growth and sound health for children.
“Breast milk is not just food—it is the first touch of love and protection,” the minister stated.
Highlighting the role of young women, the minister said, “Future mothers have a vital role in promoting the importance and benefits of breastfeeding.”
“For newborns’ survival, mental and physical development, complete nutrition, and strong immunity, exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months is essential,” Khawaja Imran Nazeer urged.
According to the minister, breastfeeding strengthens children’s immunity and instills confidence, while also improving the mother’s own health.
He emphasized that more community-based programs should be launched to guide and support mothers.
“Healthy children are the true guarantee of a brighter future,” concluded Khawaja Imran Nazeer.
