Launch Event: “Engaging Family Physicians to Deliver Family Planning Services in Punjab”



The launch event of the initiative Engaging Family Physicians to Deliver Family Planning Services in Punjab” was held at the Avari Hotel, Lahore, with the support of the Population Council. The initiative aims to strengthen family planning services by integrating family physicians into the healthcare system, bringing essential services closer to communities and addressing population management challenges in the province.

Nadia Saquib, Secretary of the Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department (PSHD) Punjab, highlighted the government’s commitment to a comprehensive and multi-pronged approach to population management. She emphasized that the department is implementing targeted initiatives to expand access to high-quality family planning services while investing substantial resources to improve healthcare for all citizens.

The event was attended by key figures, including Saira Afzal Tarar, Coordinator to the Chief Minister on Population; Dr. Rana Hajjeh, President of the Population Council, USA; and Saman Rai, Director General of the Population Welfare Department. Their presence underscored the importance of collaborative efforts in addressing population challenges and enhancing healthcare outcomes in Punjab.

This initiative reflects the government’s dedication to ensuring sustainable development through better healthcare and population management strategies.
